"The Cedar Wolves" is an original, musical fairy tale created by Steven Arntson and Kevin Hinshaw. In the midst of the 2020 pandemic, we drafted some fantastic singers to lend their voices to a few of the songs, giving you this first taste of the show.
About the story:
Each month, the magical doves fly over, showering blessings upon this walled forest town. Unfortunately, there are fewer doves each year, and fewer blessings. The ravenous cedar wolves, by contrast, increase, endlessly hunting, gobbling up anyone unlucky enough to leave the town gates.
When young Gretchen and Balen and their parents are evicted from their home and pushed outside, the wolves capture the parents and force the children into a terrible bargain: in exchange for their parents' lives, they must bring the wolves one of the magical doves to eat -- before morning.
The doves, it should be mentioned, live on the Moon. So, the children must climb: up trees, stairs, ladders, ropes, even a plank leading to a flying sailboat. Along the way they encounter all manner of strange characters ranging from professional middlemen and singing breezes to lunar butlers and muscular hoarders. But the higher the children climb, the faster time seems to pass in the magical realm of the doves.
A fantastical story set in the classic fairy tale tradition, The Cedar Wolves is an inspirational journey that speaks to anyone who believes in the power of generosity to achieve anything -- to the Moon and back, in a night.
